Hello Friends! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Desa (Deesa) but all my closest friends call me “D” A previous Sonoma County native, my fiancée and I made the move to Shasta County in 2023. This community has shown us so much love and support in the short time we have been here, that I feel like we are all close friends. So please call me D!
Bio
A little about my Micro bakery, Rooted in slow living and honest food, my micro bakery is based in Shingletown, California, where mountain air and a close-knit community inspire every loaf. I specialize in naturally leavened sourdough, crafted in small batches with patience, care, and deep respect for tradition.
My culinary foundation was shaped by four years of culinary training and hands-on experience in Sonoma County—a region renowned for its food and wine. There, I worked in high-end restaurants and wineries, learning the value of quality ingredients and thoughtful technique.
Before opening my micro bakery, I spent 10 years as a social worker, where I found profound meaning and connection in helping others. This work taught me the importance of compassion, community, and the impact of nurturing both body and soul. In April of 2025, I chose to blend that passion for service with my love of baking, returning to my roots in food and farming.
Today, I source locally whenever possible, using the finest ingredients to create each loaf with love and care. At the heart of my bakery is a commitment to community, connection, and the joy of sharing good bread. Each loaf is a celebration of local flavors and the meaningful connections that bring us all together. I look forward to baking the world a better place, one loaf at a time!
